The Autodesk Visualization Award is conferred upon teams who demonstrate excellence in the technical and visual aspects of animation. Every year, a prompt is issued to teams, and during the six-week build season, a thirty second animation is created.

The process starts with a brainstorming session that becomes a storyboard. Then, the team uses Autodesk’s 3DS Max to model the various objects needed to create the animation. The objects are then textured and special effects are added, such as the reflection of light, to create a more realistic environment. The objects are then animated and compiled into the thirty second form. The last step is to render the scenes and burn onto a DVD for submission.

The rendering process has been aided by the gift of a new computer, generously donated by Mr. Cliff Dey.
